The International Monetary Fund has fallen into a trap. Iran got $5 billion IMF's special drawing rights, but the world's developing countries aren't benefitting from 'special drawing rights.' DJ Nordquist, the World Bank Group Executive Director, and Dan Katz argue that this allocation acted as a way for the "IMF and its wealthy members to appear as if they were helping poor countries without actually delivering."
