Capitol riot: “America was on the edge of disaster long before Trump”

We should not have been shocked by the events of January 6th 2021. The summer of 2020 showed that America was already moving towards the events of the Capitol Riot. Every incident broke a little more ground towards the eventual climax in Washington. Reflecting on the incident a year later, Megan Stack, an American returning to live in America after twenty years overseas, argues that the country’s troubles run deep and that “hanging on the edge of disaster is more or less a national tradition.”
