How the great generational wealth transfer will shape our political future

The generational divide in moth democracies is now an illusion. The UK (and much of the rich world) is divided into two groups: the "will haves", who will inherit assets from family, and the "won't haves", who won't. For those in the former, life is typically easier - they're often able to get help to buy their own homes and have less tuition fee debt, which makes a significant difference to overall career and life trajectory. Stephen Bush explains how whichever demographic someone falls into influences how they'll vote and why no political party should be confident that the transfer of wealth from one generation to another won't make political calculations redundant.
