“Even without closed borders, I’d like to think my mozzarella could win in a fair fight.” Sanctions in Russia threatened to limit a fast-expanding culinary scene in 2014 until local entrepreneurs decided to get to work. Moscow-based journalist Joshua Yaffa, writing in 1843 Magazine, goes in search of some home-produced Russian mozzarella. Could it taste better than the Italian one?
